What is TinkerTank?

TinkerTank Inc. is the largest company of its kind in the world. Within our major facility on the North Pole, which is really like a small city housing armies of elves and other helpers, TikerTank coordinates the creation and delivery of billions of toys, to billions of children around the world.

We’ve been working “behind the scenes” for generations. We’ve gotten wishlists from kids around the world, stuffed stockings, hidden Easter eggs, put candy in pumpkins and even stashed gold at the end of rainbows. But no one knew who we were, until now.

How did TinkerTank start?

TinkerTank Inc. was developed after Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy met on vacation a couple of summers ago. As two very busy people with very stressful jobs, they needed to relax, and part of that was getting a good massage. As luck would have it, they both happened to be waiting for a massage at the same time in the same place.

Well, the two got to talking, and they realized that if they worked together, they would be able to streamline all of their operations. Especially with the modern technology we have now – things like email and GPS, computers and fancy maps. So, by working together, they created a company that would enable children all over the world to create, to celebrate, to be inspired.. With that realization, TinkerTank Inc. was born.

Who is TinkerTank?

Although TinkerTank was started by Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, they quickly realized that they were not the only folks who faced this challenge. Shortly after TinkerTank was originally formed, Santa and the Tooth Fairy recruited a Dream Team that includes such notable folks as The Easter Bunny, Jack-O-Lantern, Cupid and Lenny O’Shea (you’ll recognize Lenny as the leprechaun usually pictured by the giant pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.) Of course, there are thousands of elves, bunnies, junior faeries and other helpers, each of whom has an important job in creating treats and making sure they get to the right kids at the right time.

What does TinkerTank mean?

When Santa and The Tooth Fairy were originally trying to figure out how to make their lives easier, they decided that they needed to get together a Think Tank of folks from the industry. (A think tank is really just a group of people who get together and think!) They quickly realized that simply thinking wasn’t going to solve the problem. They needed to combine forces to actually make the treats – and those forces are called tinkers. It was really only a joke when Santa said, “What we really need is a Tinker Tank!” But that’s the name that stuck.

How does TinkerTank do it?

Team work, for sure! For many years, each of the brilliant minds at TinkerTank was working alone, while kids were sleeping, to perform their magic. But, that was making them very tired and very stressed out. Now that they are working together, they can manage one very big workforce, which is easier – and more fun – for everyone. We call that the TinkerTeam, and it’s one big happy family.

Where is Tinker Tank?

TinkerTank Inc. occupies a unique and expansive production facility at the North Pole that has been used by the Claus family for many generations. The facilities have everything TinkerTank needs to design, produce and deliver toys. Because so many people are involved, and they all have families, it is really like a small city. So we call it TinkerTown. We have everything you’d expect to find right in your own neighborhood. We have schools, doctors, apartments, parks (mostly for skiing and sledding), 12 Starbucks, houses, pets and everything else. Our factories, however, are our pride and joy. But we don’t let anyone inside of them except the people who work there. Every now and then we might show you pictures, but we wouldn’t want to give away any secrets – like what you’ll be getting for Christmas!

Who Took The Pictures? Why did they get to see Santa for real?

All of the photos were taken by a very talented photographer in Seattle, Washington named Pmatt. (The P is silent.) As for why Pmatt? He and Cat met at a holiday party of sorts, when she was living in Seattle. Pmatt is quiet and mysterious, much like all of the TinkerTeam. She knew, immediately, that he was someone special, someone magical and - most importantly - someone who could be trusted. So when she had to find a talented photographer who could not only take the pictures, but keep this mission secret, she knew he was the one.
