First Dumbledore Now The Tooth Fairy

TinkerTank Responds To Rumors Of Gay Tooth Fairy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: North Pole (December 5, 2007) Having recently recovered from the surprising announcement that Dumbledore, beloved Hogwarts’ professor, is gay, people are once again discussing the sexual orientation of another key figure in the imaginary worlds of childhood. With the recent realization that the currently reigning Tooth Fairy, Bruce, is a man, people can’t resist speculating that he must, in fact, be gay.

“What I wonder is, why, when the previous tooth fairy was a woman, no one wondered if she was gay?” remarked Cat Claus, youngest daughter of Santa, with whom Bruce founded TinkerTank Inc. “I am struggling between answering this because I believe that people should be known and loved for who they actually are, and not answering it because I want to get past the point where we, as a society, fixate on such things.”

Bruce and Santa formed TinkerTank Inc. several years ago as a way to make the manufacture and delivery of toys to children easier. At the time, they were both facing problems with their middle of the night deliveries as globalization, media, and technology placed increasing pressure on society’s expectations of them. It is their singular focus on the role of creativity and play in the development of happy children that has made TinkerTank the global leader in toys and predominant force in all widely celebrated holidays.

Though Santa is a well-known family man, Bruce has always been something of an enigma. In fact, prior to the release of the acclaimed TinkerTank web site, no one knew for sure who the Tooth Fairy was, or how he operated.

“I will simply state that if we are going to judge each other, it ought to be based on the contributions we make to the world around us,” added Cat Claus, who is the Director of Media Relations for TinkerTank, and happens to be Bruce’s best friend (forever.) “I do not feel the need to discuss my romantic life, or anyone else’s. We are proud of Bruce, and our entire team, and are looking forward to discussing the many exciting developments we have made as a company, and a community.”

When asked if that answer was a way to dodge the question, Cat replies, “No, it’s a way to focus on what actually matters. I look forward to the day when people are judged simply by how they treat others, and by the contributions they make to the world. I look forward to the day when sexual orientation doesn’t define who we are, and, as a result, can be discussed as freely as the weather, or run-of-the-mill family news. When Bruce feels like discussing his romantic life, I am sure he will.”

“In case you’re wondering,” Cat continued, “I am not dating anyone at the moment. TinkerTown is just too small, but yes, I would very much like to find someone.”
