Lay it on me cupid, tell me...
Do you really use a bow and arrow? No, that would freak people out. Can you imagine, me walking down the street with a bow and arrow. I have plain old, garden variety, magic powers. I have a keen sense of when two people should meet, and I will do anything to make them notice each other. I’ve gotten people stuck in elevators, redirected phone calls, created traffic jams, filled a bus except for one empty seat….. I love what I do.
I thought Cupid was a little boy. The original cupid was. In fact he was the son of some old Gods of love (in Greek and Roman mythology.) But that was thousands of years ago, and now I have the job. There have been both boys and girls before me, and probably will be after me. When I get tired of doing the job, I’ll find the next Cupid. And who knows who that will be? Could be you!
Why do you always want people to be in love? Because when people are in love, they’re happy. When they’re happy, they’re nice to other people and other people are happier. Happy people are creative and productive, and a whole lot nicer to be around than grumpy people. And then grumpy people have a hard time finding love, which makes them grumpier. All in all, the world is a better place when you feel loved.
Are you in love? Nope. Have you heard the saying that the cobbler’s kids have no shoes? I think it’s like that for me. I would like to be, but I think people are scared of me, like they think they have to be perfect or something, for me to be in love with them. It’s silly, I love people for who they are, flaws and all, but they’re still scared because of what I do. Someday though, and I’ll do whatever I have to when I meet that person, even if I’m the only one to know it.
Can you really fly? Oh honey, when you’re in love, you can do ANYTHING!
