Write a Letter to a Leprechaun!

Home
Letters To (and from) Lenny O'Shea Well, you found me. At least, you found where to write me. I'll be honest with you, I'm not really one for writing letters. I'm more one for playng tricks, or games. But I do like to hear from you, and I will do my best to get back to you. If you've got run of the mill questions like about Saint Patrick's Day or life as a leprechaun, you can probably find what you need in the FAQ, or my bio, or maybe the History of St.Pat's page. And, of course, you're always free to email me at lenny@tinkertank.org. With any luck, I'll get back to you lickety-split.

Good Day - Lenny O'Shea

Lenny

I’m not at all fond of green. It makes my skin look yellow, yet, every year on Saint Patrick’s Day, we are all – even if we’re not Irish – expected to wear green or else get pinched all the time by people we don’t know. What, exactly, is so Irish about this, and how do I get it to stop. I am not at all fond of being pinched by people I don’t know, not any more fond than I am of the color green, which, as I already told you, I am not at all fond of. Not at all.

Patricia (and no, I am not Irish, it’s an unlucky coincidence.)

Well, pickle my patty Patricia, what’re we going to do with you?

As any Irishman (especially a leprechaun) will tell you, the best way to avoid being pinched by a stranger is to make friends with everyone you meet, then there are no strangers at all to be pinching ya.

As for your question, being “what’s so Irish about this?” Have you been to Ireland? When the sun is shining, there’s no place lovelier, but when it’s gray and rainy, pretty though it may be, it’s a bit heavy in the step and we can be a drowsy people. So a quick pinch from a smiling friend (seeing as there are no strangers in Ireland) can wake ya up enough to get where you’re going. Besides, we are, honestly, a flirty folk, we can find love in any eye and luck in every corner, which just makes ya want to snap your fingers and pinch the next thing you see.

So I don’t know what to tell you. Personally, I never wear green on Saint Patrick’s Day, and I walk into the biggest crowds I can find. But then, I’m Irish. You ought to give it a try – everyone’s Irish on Saint Patrick’s Day!

Top o' the day to ya - Lenny O.
