People are always surprised to learn that Cupid originally comes from Brooklyn, in good old New York City – and that she’s a girl. Although New York City is not known for its spirit of brotherly love, Cupid was literally born wearing rose colored lenses, and she has always been able to find and foster love in the world.

She is the ONLY person at TinkerTank who does most of her work out in the “real world.” But she is very careful not to be recognized – she may sitting right next to you, and you’d never know it.

Cupid was the youngest child, and only girl, from a very academic family in New York. Her mother was a psychiatrist and her father was a philosopher – and all 6 of her older brothers are either psychiatrists or philosophers. In her house, people just sat around thinking all the time. Mostly, they thought about love which is what most people think about anyway. But all that thinking and talking was boring to little Cupid, who decided that she’d rather go out and help people find love, rather than just talking about it. And that’s what she did, which is how she got the job of Cupid.

She roams the planet looking for people who need help finding love. She’s very sneaky, and very clever – and she has a very silly sense of humor. Have you ever heard someone say that they were in love with someone who is “not my type?” Well, that’s usually the work of Cupid, trying to get people to lighten up a little, and love a lot.

Oh, and one more thing about Cupid, she is always wearing her favorite pair of red Converse low-top sneakers. (She took them from her favorite brother before she left home. He hasn’t noticed because he’s still sitting around thinking, in a robe and slippers.)
